Lower Body Lift
You've worked hard to lose a significant amount of weight and have every right to be proud of your accomplishment. You may look and feel like an entirely new person, with a new outlook on life. However, most people who lose a significant amount of weight are left with stretched, sagging skin that does not go away on its own. This serves to remind you of your former, heavier self, and may prevent you from fully enjoying your new shape.
At Virginia Plastic Surgery, we fully understand the challenges you have overcome, and the ones you still face. Dr. Goldberg specializes in post-weight loss surgery in Virginia to remove excess skin and residual fat and help you complete your journey to the New You.
A lower body lift is one procedure which addresses several areas most affected by massive weight loss. This surgery can dramatically change your appearance and the way you feel about your new body.

Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift is a combination of procedures that can be performed all at once to reduce costs and combine recovery time. It provides many of the advantages of a lateral thigh lift, a buttock lift, and an abdominoplasty, resulting in a dramatic change to your entire lower body. On occasion, the lower body lift procedure will be performed in conjunction with other body contouring procedures.
The incisions for a lower body lift are extensive, but every effort is made to place them in areas where they are easily hidden by underwear or swimwear. The procedure removes a band of excess skin and fat from the entire midsection, resulting in a lifting of the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. Underlying muscles are also tightened, and residual fat may be removed with liposuction. Many body lift patients actually have several pounds worth of excess skin and tissue removed during this procedure. Often up to 20 pounds of skin and fat may be removed.
Lower Body Lift Recovery and Results
A lower body lift is an extensive post-weight loss surgery procedure and patients should plan on several weeks of taking it easy following surgery. You will have bruising and swelling, as well as incisions that need to heal. Dr. Goldberg will monitor your recovery closely and advise you as to when you can resume normal activities. Most patients can return to work in 3 to 4 weeks following their lower body lift procedure.
